Hi, My name is

Jacob Godwin.

Building things on the web.

I'm a self-taught, front-end web developer who loves building websites.

About Me

Hello! My name is Jacob Godwin. I've been working in IT for almost 10 years, in jobs ranging from tech support, to systems admin and even some business analyst work.

I've always loved learning about technology, but recently found that I really enjoy coding and building things. There's just something extremely satisfying and magical about watching a webpage come to life from some lines of text in a code editor.

Which brings me to today. I've been learning and building things on the web for the past year and would love any opportunity to put these skills to use.

Skills

I'm a self-taught developer, mainly following The Odin Project's curriculum, and the below skills are what I'm currently most proficient in. I've been really focusing on the core of JavaScript lately and plan to start learning React as well.

Actively Learning:

Projects

  • Etch-A-Sketch

A simple Etch-A-Sketch concept that demonstrates the ability to implement HTML/CSS/JS into a functioning and interactive web page.

    • HTML
    • CSS
    • JavaScript
  • Calculator

Web-based Calculator demonstrating JavaScript DOM manipulation, functions, event listeners, keyboard support. On the styling side, I wanted to see if I could come close to replicating the design of the Apple calculator.

    • HTML
    • CSS
    • JavaScript
    • Bootstrap
  • Tic-Tac-Toe

Tic-Tac-Toe game built to demonstrate the use of JavaScript modules and factory functions. I realized that I could have included all game assets inside one module but wanted to learn about private and public functions and variables and how to access them.

    • HTML
    • CSS
    • JavaScript
    • Bootstrap
  • Library Project

Simple and rudimentary book library that allows the user to add books, update the reading status, and remove the book from the "bookshelf".

    • HTML
    • CSS
    • JavaScript
    • Bootstrap
